Aristotle


Aristotle was born on 384BC and died on 322BC. He lived about 61-62 years. He was born in Stageira, Chalcidice. His fathers name was Nicomachus. He was the personal physician to king Amyntas of Macedon. Aristotle was educated and trained as a member of the aristocracy. When he was eighteen, Aristotle went to Athens to continue his education at a place called Platos Academy. After Platos, Aristotle went to Asia, married a woman by the name of Hermias . They had a daughter who they named Pythias. Hermias died eventually. A few years after this tradgety Aristotle started to tutor Alexander the Great.


Aristotle is one of the most important founding figures in western philosophy. Aristotles writings contain the earliest known straight forward study of logic, witch was made of in the late nineteenth century to our nowadays formal logic. Some people say that a lot of Aristotles writings have been lost. Now only about 1/3 of the original writings have survived.
