Jupiters red spot is a storm that has been continually going. So far the storm has lasted for around four hundred years. The winds inside the storm can reach speeds up to 270mph. That spot alone is at least three times the size of the earth. This storm in the biggest most violent storm known in the universe. The gases on Jupiter cause swirls that always seem to be changing.
Telescopes on earth can identify the storm. That is how big it is! No one knows how long the spot will last or if the storm will ever die down. The red spot has decreased with time making it posibly less violent. No one knows what causes the spot to be red, although there are a lot of theories.
